If left untreated, glaucoma can cause permanant vision loss or blindness. With early detection and treatment this disease can be controlled. GLAUCOMA is found most often during a dilated exam. In this procedure, drops are put into the eyes to enlarge the pupils. The ophthalmologist is then able to see more of the inside of the eye to check for signs of damage. Eye pressure will also be measured during the exam. If GLAUCOMA is detected the patient should seek care from a GLAUCOMA Specialist.
